THE EDITOR, Madam:
It is now being argued that the prime minister should not have called the general election in the midst of a pandemic.
While some merits are attached to this sentiment, is the USA postponing its elections?
They are not. A lot of people don’t get it. While it’s not business as usual, shouldn’t we try as best as possible to continue to operate our country?
Our economy is dependent on a lot of things, especially a stable government. There is too much uncertainty right now so it’s the best time to call the election. This will allow the Government to make more concrete decisions, whether it’s a Jamaica Labour Party or People’s National Party government. We simply need to control or rein in the unruly behaviour of the population. Peace.
