Jamaica Labour Party Leader Andrew HolnessIn the face of a huge loss at the polls in today’s Local Government Election, Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Leader, Andrew Holness has told journalists that the future of the party is still bright.

"We take this defeat as part of the rebuilding process," Holness said during a brief press conference a short while ago in which he permitted only four questions.

He also said the JLP would not have been able to make a turnaround three months after the General Election loss.

Asked whether he would remain as party leader in the face of the back to back losses, Holness said,"In any situation like this, as a leader, people will be looking at you for leadership and I will do just that."

Pressed for a definite response Holness said: "Thank you," and then left the room at JLP headquarters where the press conference was held.
