Dr. Lloyd Barnett, Chairman of Citizens Action for Free and Fair Elections (CAFFE), has said voting is progressing smoothly.
Mr. Barnett said based on reports from its observers who are in 10 parishes and about 28 constituencies "the indication is that the voting has proceeded smoothly (and) the polling stations were opened on time."
However, he said there were "disturbing reports" of cases intimidation in the St. Andrew East Rural and Westmoreland Western constituencies.
Additionally he was concerned that elderly people were not given precedence to vote, despite orders for those arrangements being given prior to the election.
He also had concerns about the voter turnout so far, noting that based on the figures, "the (turnout) was low last time and it will be worse this time."
