Holness defends his 10-point plan which would see income tax threshold changes

Before the abrupt end to the JLP meeting, Party leader Andrew Holness, defended his 10-point plan in which he proposes to eliminate income tax for some workers, calling naysayers envious.

Criticising those questioning the plan, he said while they speak of economics, he specialises in ‘practicalnomics’.

Holness said the opposition has done the research on the plan to allow workers making 1.5 million or less to take home their income tax free and will release details incrementally.

He also noted that the previous JLP administration delivered on a similar plan in 2009 when about 137,000 people were removed from the income tax roll.

Holness stressed that the policy would leave workers with more money to spend in the economy.

Meanwhile, Holness also stated that within the first 100 days of taking office a JLP government would start the legislative process to fix the date for general elections.

Holness also said a JLP government would start the process to institute term limits for prime ministers and impeachment for parliamentarians within its first 100 days in office.
