Schools that are to be used as polling stations on election day will be adjusting their calendars of activities to make up for the lost day.

While the Electoral Office of Jamaica has not yet advised the Ministry of Education of what schools they will require as polling stations, the ministry has signalled that students will be asked to stay home if their school is required on election day.

"Schools normally regain the lost day by adjusting their calendar of activities," the ministry said.

The education ministry also indicated that schools that will be used as centres for external examinations on election day will not be made available for election day activities.
