Rise Up And Be Counted, Pastor Rallies Jamaicans To Vote PNP

Pastor Michael Harvey, the man who prayed at the People's National Party (PNP's) mass rally in Half-Way Tree says he is not a political die-hard but told Comrades to stick with the party.

"A number of times I have voted and I have voted not only for the PNP but I have voted other ways, but at this time I support the policies of the People's National Party," the fiery pastor said.

Harvey, a senior pastor for Northern Caribbean University and vice president for spiritual affairs at the university, said that there is at least one occasion on which he has not voted for the PNP.

"I am a Jamaican who stays current with what happens in the land and when we analyse the policies of the government and the direction in which we are going, we must support those who are at the helm who are putting policies and programmes in place that will alleviate suffering and bring benefit to the Jamaican people," Harvey said.

"Wherever that is, I am ready to stand up for what is right," said the pastor, a Westmoreland native said.

The pastor said that the policies of the PNP are aligned with his philosophies, hence his reason for supporting the party.

"Politics is governance and I believe that we cannot divest ourselves from the operations of the country. As long as it is peaceful we must play a part," Harvey said.

In conducting devotional exercise at Half Way Tree this evening where the PNP is having a mass meeting, Harvey also said PNP president Portia Simpson Miller and her team are well equipped to move the country forward.

"It is time to rise up and be counted. Step up Jamaicans, rise up Comrades and rally to the cause. Because if it is a mountain we can climb it, if its a race we can win it," Harvey charged.
