The Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) says it’s unperturbed by the indication from Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller that she is now ready to call the next general election.

In an off-mic comment in Parliament yesterday Simpson Miller said she has already been touched by her Master.

The comment came against the background of her statement on the campaign trail late last year that she would announce the date of the election whenever her master touched her.

Her comment was made in response to a plea from opposition member of parliament, Audley Shaw, that she delay the poll until the voters’ list is cleaned up.

Today, the general secretary for the JLP, Dr Horace Chang, sought to assure that the party would be ready for an election whenever it is called.

Mrs Holness will be going up against the People’s National Party’s Imani Duncan Pryce.
