"I wonder where the mother of poverty went when she said every little thing is alright, " Holness questioned, eliciting chuckles from a huge crowd in the South West St Ann town.

"Well I also travelled around the country and the real Ministers of Finance who are the women in households have said that every little thing is not alright," he added.

Holness presented two baskets of groceries of contrasting sizes, the smaller of which he claimed was purchased under the current administration for $4,000.

"This is poverty not prosperity and it's time that we determine that we want better," he declared as he launched into scriptures.

In a tone reminiscent of a pastor doing an altar call at a gospel crusade, Holness said: "Will you make the decision to move from that small basket to a big basket?"

Holness promised a government that will focus on education, health and security saying these are the pillars on which a strong economy will be built to provide job opportunities and growth individually and economically.
