Audrey Anderson is 66-year-old and has arthritis of the spine, but that did not stop her from crossing a bridge and climbing several steps to get to her polling station located inside Grove Primary School, in St Andrew East Rural.

Minutes later, Anderson slowly made her way from the polling station clutching the arm of a much younger male voter and with the assistance of her walking stick, but happy that she had come out to support her political party.

"I want my party and my candidate to win. A feel good this morning, a don't wake up with any pain," she told The Gleaner.

The elderly woman was among a steady stream of voters who have been filing into the six polling stations located inside the school to vote for their candidate.

The Jamaica Labour Party's Juliet Holness is challenging the People's National Party's Imani Duncan-Price to become the parliamentary representative for the constituency.

Simone Dunn had no difficulty with the bridge and the steps and said she came out to vote because she wanted to have a say in how her country is governed.

"My vote is my right," said Dunn, who indicated that she has heard things during the election campaign that has attracted her attention.
