#JaVotes2016: Early start to all 103 polling station in St. Catherine North Central

The constituency of St Catherine North Central experienced a smooth start to election day voting activities with all 103 polling divisions opening at exactly 7 a.m.

Returning officer Frederick Lewis told The Gleaner/Power 106 News that he was on the road since 5 a.m. ensuring that there was a smooth start to the day's  proceedings.

"All 103 polling stations are up and running with the full compliment of staff in place and voting began promptly at 7 a.m. at all polling divisions," Lewis disclosed.

There was a flurry of activity at the Crescent Primary School where early voters turned out to cast their votes. 

Meanwhile, Peter Abrahams, who stepped down as candidate for the Jamaica Labour Party is now campaign manager for colleague Kerensia Morrison, was optimistic she would topple incumbent Natalie Neita- Headley of the PNP.

"I am feeling confident, I have no doubt we will be able to take the seat we have a lot of support especially in the Bog walk and Sligoville divisions," he said.

Morrison, a 30-year-old teacher, is up against incumbent Natalie Neita Headley who defeated former Spanish Town mayor Dr Raymoth Notice by 2,051 votes in the 2011 General Elections.

Neita-Headley polled 6,673 or 58.89 per cent of the votes while Notice polled 4,622 or 40.79 per cent.

Garth Barnett of the Marcus Garvey People's Political Party was polled 37 votes or .33 per cent.
