Located just metres from each other, supporters of the People’s National Party (PNP) stronghold in Parade Gardens - otherwise called Tel Aviv and those of the Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) in South Side remained calm as they prepared to cast their votes early this morning.

The two communities have been at political loggerheads for decades, but residents have said that the rivalry is now more gang - related.

According to residents, there has been no recent politically related incident, but they are concerned about the state of shooting that has occurred in the area in recent weeks.

“The gang rivalry still deh bout, but no politics. We dun wid dem ting deh long time. We are all friends," Sandra Ellis said.
