Chairman of the Electoral Commission of Jamaica, Dorothy Pine-McLarty, says all is in place for the casting of ballots by Jamaicans in today’s General Election.
Pine-McLarty says all voting ballots have been printed and Election Day workers are ready to carry out their duties.
Polling stations opened at 7 this morning and will close at 5 this afternoon.
There are over 7,000 polling stations across the country.
Based on the November 2015 voter’s list, 1,824,410 persons are eligible to vote today.
The ECJ chairman is appealing to voters observe proper procedures when they go to cast their ballots.

Pine-McLarty says at the close of the polls there will be an initial counting of ballots which will then be securely packed away and transported, with security, to Kingston for official counting.
She says it is anticipated that results will be released to the public early in the evening.
Voting for the general election began on Monday with Election Day workers and members of security forces casting their ballots.
