Holness Describes PM's Statement At PNP Rally As Distasteful

Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) Leader Andrew Holness has described as distasteful the comments by Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller following last night’s shooting at a People’s National Party rally in Three Miles, St Andrew.

Last night Simpson Miller vowed to find the person who fired shots at the rally.

In a reference to the recent shooting at a JLP meeting in  St James, the PNP President said it appeared that someone wanted the PNP to resemble the "other" party.

However, Holness says her insinuation that JLP supporters had anything to do with it is a disservice to Jamaicans.

According to Holness, the JLP is without question a party of peace and respect for the country’s sacred democratic process.

He says the JLP seeks to win by the ballot and never by the bullet.

Meanwhile, he has labelled last night’s shooting as a disgusting act of violence that disrupted the peaceful nature of Jamaica’s democracy.

Holness says regardless of political affiliation, violence against any citizen harms all Jamaicans.

He says he and his wife, Juliet, are praying for in injured.
