WESTERN BUREAU:
A People's National Party (PNP) supporter was stabbed to death in Clarke's Town, Trelawny, early Saturday morning and a Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) activist arrested and charged with murder following a heated argument over politics.
Dead is 29-year-old watchman Sheldon 'Cojack' Samuels, of Hyde district, while facing a murder charge is 33-year-old chef Rohan Hyatt of Samuel Prospect district.
According to reports, shortly after 1:30 a.m., Samuels and Hyatt, who are known to have frequent political arguments over the merits and demerits of the PNP and JLP, had another such argument. The argument reportedly escalated and became personal, with both men making insulting remarks about each other. Bystanders separated the men and Samuels left the scene, but he returned later and the quarrel resumed. The quarrel subsequently turned physical and during a fight, Hyatt reportedly pulled a knife and inflicted several stab wounds all over Samuels' body. Samuels was admitted to the Falmouth Hospital but later died.
